The game retells key moments from the Attack on Titan manga (chapters 1 through 33), which are also covered by the first season of the anime series, in addition to new scenarios involving the key characters. Completing these missions rewards you with EXP for playable characters, materials for upgrading, and other extras in the gallery. To access more chapters of the epilogue, you need to complete survey missions and finish side quests from characters in the home base. You can upgrade your equipment, create new weapons, and purchase a war horse to use on the battlefield from your home base. The main campaign allows you to play through the original story of Attack on Titan, with an epilogue featuring extra battles based on the manga. These characters include Eren Yeager, Mikasa Ackerman, Armin Arlert, Jean Kirschtein, Connie Springer, Sasha Braus, Krista Lenz, Levi, Zoë Hange, and Erwin Smith.Īttack Mode is divided into two parts: the main campaign and survey missions. But as players progress through Attack (story) mode, more characters are unlocked. The game features ten playable characters. The 3D Maneuvering Gear can be used to ascend to high areas. The game's visuals matches that of the anime series and it features one player fighting multiple enemies. ![]() In other words, the game is decent, but some extra variety in gameplay and some time spent massaging out some technical issues would've made Attack on Titan a more justifiable game to invest in.This section needs expansion. While the graphics are decent - if the naked human-looking Titans don't creep you out - the game does suffer from some technical glitches (such as losing half a character's body in other objects) and from slowdowns in frame rate depending on what's happening on-screen or how close you get to the giant Titans. After a couple of hours, you might not be so keen playing, unless you want to go online and play some co-op with your buddies in Expedition mode (actually, you can get around quicker alone, so not everyone likes the multiplayer mode). Boss characters also aren't very challenging. While not all missions are the same (for example, you'll be tasked with escorting soldiers through a forest on horseback and protecting a structure on the map), some objectives are more fun than others, but they're not very unique or memorable. The problem is that repetition between missions tends to wear down the appeal of the game. ![]() It's fun, fast, and gratifying to swing over the tops of forests, towns, and other areas to look for giant Titans to hop onto before you begin to take them down one by one. In other words, the game makers nailed the look and feel. Also, while the game borrows elements from the Dynasty Warriors catalog, Attack on Titan doesn't feel like the franchise was shoehorned into an existing gameplay mechanic. The developers cleverly and successfully infused the anime and manga series' look, environments, and story. If you're a fan of the TV series, you'll no doubt appreciate the amount of detail put into this Koei Tecmo adventure. Fans of the anime and TV show will appreciate the detail of this game, but technical issues and repetitive play make it an average adventure at best.
